The second AFFECT (Automated Finding, Fixing, or Exploiting of Security Vulnerabilities) workshop, in collaboration with ACCSS, took place at VU in Amsterdam on June 20th. Software security researchers from all over the Netherlands gathered for a whole day of talks and discussions on automated testing and fuzzing. The talks ranged from the importance of fuzzing in CI/CD pipelines to new tricks for detecting memory errors and devising fast stateful fuzzers. Also, during the workshop, the opportunity to use LLMs during the fuzzing process and the importance of creating solid datasets for benchmarking firmware testing tools and generic fuzzers were discussed.
The complete program of the workshop can be found here: https://www.cs.ru.nl/affect.nl/
The success of the workshop and the enthusiasm of the crowd showed how awareness about software security is spreading in both academia and industry.
